ST CHARLES CUSTOM CAKES

  • How far in advance do I need to order?
As far as you can! The longer I have to design, the better, as sometimes there are specific tools or supplies that may need to be ordered in advance. Ordering ahead also gives me more time to get creative and it secures your date. For a custom design, minimum two weeks is required, and for tiered, structured or sculpted cakes, minimum 3 weeks. For signature designs, cupcakes or cakesicles you may order as soon as 7 days prior to pickup. Gift boxes may be available with one day’s notice.
  • How much does a custom cake cost?
The base price of a cake begins with the size, shape, and flavor and will go up based on the intricacy of the cake design. I will typically offer 2-3 design options to suit your budget, but if you have a specific budget in mind please let me know! I will always try to accommodate if I can.
  • How do I decide what to order?
If you aren’t sure what you want your cake to look like or what size, we can schedule a consultation call. You may also check out the flavors and sizing guide on my website or browse my gallery for ideas. Inspiration for a cake design can be as simple as someone’s favorite color or hobby.
  • Why do I need to pay a deposit?
A deposit reserves your date and lets me know you’re serious about ordering which means I will turn down other orders for that date. I will also begin planning and designing right away, as well as ordering materials and hand-making pieces ahead of time. Deposits are 50% of the total order cost and are non-refundable.
  • Where do I pick up my order?
St. Charles Custom Cakes is a home bakery in St. Charles, Missouri. All orders will be picked up at my home unless we have arranged delivery.
  • How do I transport my cake?
The best place for your cake will be on the floorboard of your car in the front seat with the a/c on in the warmer weather. Seats and car seats are not flat so they are not the safest place for a cake. I am happy to help you load your cake into the car. Please note that I am not responsible for any damage to a cake once it has been picked up.
  • How do I cut my cake?
Each cake is packaged with instructions on how to slice and serve the cake, as well as removing any inedible structure.
  • Where do I store the cake before serving?
Cakes should be stored in the fridge until 1-2 hours prior to serving and they are best enjoyed at room temperature.
